2022: Journey Map your HDR with the Research Canvas (Online via Zoom)

Description:

The EXPANSIVITY program delivered by the MQ Incubator multiplies the way you can journey through your HDR by using a creative research lens. It enables you to approach your graduate research journey in a more powerful way, developing the 7 mindsets and 4 core abilities of creative thinkingThrough immersive learning techniques you gain practical experience using a Design Thinking and entrepreneurial approach of emotional intelligence, problem-solving, prototyping, iteration, reflection, and reflexivity, applying this to your own research project and support network. Tools, concepts and strategies used in this program are transferable beyond graduation, complementing the analytical thinking typically emphasized throughout the graduate research journey and offering you well-developed soft skills that are in line with the World Economic Forum's 'Top Skills for 2025'.

Course 2: Journey Map your HDR with the Research Canvas

Just over a decade ago, a PhD student developed a business model ontology in his dissertation and later used it as the basis for changing the business world forever. Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas became a strategic tool to describe how a business creates, delivers, and captures value – all on a single page! In this course, you’ll learn how you can apply this technique to map out your own research. You’ll develop a succinct summary of what you hope or plan to do in your HDR journey, identifying the areas you need to concentrate on most. You’ll also learn the Design Thinkers concept of iteration and how it can help get the most out of your project. You’ll walk away with a new wall hanging for your room; a placemat for your dining table; a discussion tool for your Supervisory panel that shows your logic and helps steer your next 1on1.

What are the requirements for this online course?
No experience in Design Thinking is necessary!

The format of this online course will be suited to people that are tech savvy or pick up digital skills easily; they want to learn how to optimise their digital thinking processes and don’t mind being put on mute and waiting their turn to speak. We create a safe space to share out and expect full participation, preferring cameras switched on.

Please note that participants will need to attend both sessions of the workshop:

Friday 17th June 2022 and Wednesday 22nd June 2022, 10:00am to 12:30pm.

Please disregard the dates shown on the calendar below. The system cannot show 2 non-consecutive dates
